Meditation Classes

Buddhist Meditation

Buddhist Meditation is a tried-and-true method of accumulating mindfulness and sinking deep into absorption resulting in profound states of samadhi. We cover the techniques of Ananapanasati and Vipassna and then go deeper with the master meditation techniques of the Thailand Forest Monks which Buddha himself used for enlightenment.

Himalayan Raja Yoga Meditation

'Raja Yoga is the highest path of Meditation and the quintessential essence of all paths. This ancient system of practice was favoured by the masters of yesterday'

'Raja Yoga involves a series of five techniques which allow us to connect to, and utilise the healing power of the breath and the intelligence of a concentrated mind. Through this fusion of breath and mind we gain deeper insight into our own inner condition, particularly regarding the self-created ways in which we suffer, while also gaining insight into the precise means to overcome these afflictions. This time-tested practice teaches us how to anchor ourselves to true inner peace and happiness beyond reliance on external factors, plus systematically introduces and anchors us to our own radiant, wisdom-filled essence. As we regularly make contact with the indwelling light that exists beyond all suffering, it begins to transform our waking consciousness and over time, the wall that divides the human and spiritual dimensions of our life dissolves.'

Tantric Meditation

Most meditation paths focus on making the mind still so that we can see what’s beyond it. In other words, developing witness conscious. Although the tantric yogis saw the benefit of this approach, their primary emphasis was entirely different.

Instead of ‘stilling’ the mind, they understood that the mind likes to move and be seduced by the next most interesting thing. As such their strategy was to give it progressively more potent and increasingly more positively charged things to follow and ultimately become absorbed by. The reason for this is that they also understood that the mind becomes more like whatever it associates with and will ultimately be transformed by it.

In doing so, the yogis were able to move beyond a superficial kind of mental stillness and instead touch in on the power and wonder accessed in the depths of stillness. In other words, touch the Infinite directly and begin to embody it more and more. Tantric forms of meditation are often called ‘Kriyas’ and work with the themes of YANTRA and MANTRA.
